Aswan and Abu Simbel from Hurghada: Planning a Three-Day Route

2026-10-25

Temple of Nefertari at Abu Simbel

This journey reaches far beyond the Red Sea coast. Plan it around the travel distances, two overnight stays and the different temple settings rather than treating it as an extended day trip.

Why the route uses three days

The first day is primarily the road journey from Hurghada to Aswan. An overnight base allows the next day’s early Abu Simbel departure, followed by another night in Aswan. Philae is planned before the final return journey. This distribution makes the route possible as a structured itinerary, but it remains travel-intensive. Compare driving time with your own comfort before choosing it.

Abu Simbel as the main southern excursion

The temples at Abu Simbel are a major focus of the trip, with monumental rock-cut settings and a distinctive facade landscape. Your guide explains the included areas and their context. Do not assume that a special illumination event or access beyond the standard ticket is part of the tour. The operating route and departure arrangements must be confirmed for your specific dates.

Philae needs a local boat transfer

Philae’s island setting adds a different experience to the road itinerary. Our listed programme includes the local boat transfer required for the planned temple visit. It is not a Nile cruise or a separate sailing holiday. Keep the practical boarding arrangements in mind and discuss mobility requirements before booking so the team can assess the actual access rather than promise a generic accessible visit.

Read the package as a whole

Two accommodation nights, breakfasts after the stays and lunch on all three touring days are included in the selected option. Dinners, drinks and unlisted visits remain separate. Ask for the property and room details, and remember that the long final return follows the Philae visit. If you prefer flights or a slower pace, request a different itinerary instead of assuming those changes are covered by the starting price.
